Joe joined the Zon lab in 2023 after completing his PhD in Dr. Joel Boerckel’s lab at the University of Pennsylvania. His thesis focused on the roles of the mechanoresponsive transcriptional regulators YAP and TAZ in fetal bone development highlighting osteoprogenitor-blood vessel crosstalk and mobilization. In the Zon lab, Joe is investigating macrophage-mediated hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) quality assurance during development with an emphasis on repurposing these developmental programs in leukemic models. Outside the lab, Joe enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
